The “U” in U71Mn heavy rail stands for rail, “71” represents the average carbon content of 0.71% in the chemical composition, and “Mn” stands for manganese. The chemical composition of U71Mn heavy rail mainly includes carbon (C), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and other elements. The content of each element must meet the standard requirements to ensure the performance of the rail. For example, the carbon content is generally between 0.65% – 0.77%, and the manganese content is between 1.10% – 1.50%. It makes the rail have good mechanical properties such as wear resistance, toughness, and strength, and can well withstand the operating pressure, impact load and friction of locomotives and vehicles.

The nominal weight of each meter of heavy rail is 43kg, 50kg, 60kg and 75kg, respectively, belonging to different specifications and models to meet the use requirements of different railway lines. The cross-section shape of the rail adopts an I-shaped cross-section with the best bending resistance, which consists of three parts: rail head, rail waist and rail bottom.

It is mainly used in railway trunk lines, high-speed railways, special heavy-duty railway lines and other scenarios.
